Rosie Franklin

Rosie Franklin, born on March 23, 1959, in Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on March 4, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. She lived with strength, spontaneity, and clarity, approaching life with a straightforward, feisty, and outspoken spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Rosie found deep joy in her flower garden, where she tended blooms that mirrored her own vibrant renewal with each season. She delighted in spirited political discussions while watching CNN, dancing with abandon, and capturing precious moments through her camera. Above all, she cherished time with her family, taking great pride in the laughter and love they shared, as well as in her accomplishments as a homeowner.

She is survived by her daughters, Keidral Smith and Latasha Smith Cain, and her son, Kenneth Franklin. As a mother, Rosie was a guiding light and unwavering supporter through every challenge. Her love lives on through her seven grandchildren, who were her greatest treasures. She is also survived by her mother, Cassile Smith, and her siblings: sisters Mary Jackson and Lucille Jeffries, and brothers Jessie Smith, Jr., Henry Smith, Johnny Smith, and Ronald Smith.

Rosie was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Smith, Sr., and her brother, Donald Smith. Her candid spirit, joy, strength, and love for life remain a cherished part of all who knew her.
