She was born June 25, 1950 to the late John Garza Jr. and Pauline Gonzales Garza Gutierrez.Mom was a devoted Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. She taught CCD for 40 years, a Catholic Daughter, lector and member of the ACTS community. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Mom loved cooking, baking, quilting, all holidays and especially family time along with being outside with her plants.She married the love of her life, Abraham C. Zarate Jr. on March 4, 1966. Celebrating 60 years this year. Together they had 3 children; daughter, Michelle Zarate Longoria (husband Tommy), Sons, David Zarate and Abraham Zarate III (wife Kristy). Four grandchildren; Meagan Amaro (husband Stephen), Tommy C. Longoria (wife Rian), Ky Zarate and Katarina Zarate. Two great granddaughters; Kaidyn Amaro and Kamryn Amaro, sisters; Darlene Aguilar (husband Richard), Arlene Martinez and Opal Reyes, brothers, Marion Garza (wife Dora) and Noe Garza (wife Gloria) along with numerous nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Albert Garza.Pallbearers will be Tommy Longoria, Tommy Christopher Longoria, Ky Zarate, Stephen Amaro, Marion Garza and Noe Garza. Honorary pallbearers, Meagan Amaro, Katarina Zarate, Kristy Zarate, Rian Longoria, Kaidyn Amaro, Kamryn Amaro and Mary Eloise Ramirez.The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ronald Walters, all doctors and nurses at Md Anderson. Also Dr Tye Meyer, nurses and assistants at Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center for being so loving, kind, compassionate and patient during her stay.In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center.Visitation will be on Wednesday March 18, 2026, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM with Rosary to be recited at 9:30. Liturgy of the Word to begin at 10:00 AM at Angel Lucy's Funeral Home 706 E. Crestwood Victoria, Tx 77901.
