October 14, 1934 March 9, 2026

Keller, TX

Rosario Sabale Comes, lovingly known as “Mama,” passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024, at the age of 92. She was born on October 14, 1934, in Marikina, Philippines, to Gonzalo Sabale and Segunda Garcia.

Rosario grew up in Marikina and attended Roosevelt High School before continuing her education at Centro Scholar University in Manila, Philippines. From a young age, she lived a life rooted in faith and service, actively participating in the Legion of Mary and the St. John Vianney Organization in Marikina.

On January 1, 1960, Rosario married the love of her life, Carlos Isidro Comes, in Marikina, Philippines. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and devotion. Rosario was a devoted wife, loving mother of five children, and a faithful Catholic whose life was grounded in prayer and deep love for those around her.

Rosario will be remembered for her warm spirit, beautiful smile, and joyful love of singing and dancing. She had a remarkable gift for bringing people together, especially through her exceptional cooking. Family and friends were always welcomed around her table, where she shared not only delicious meals but also kindness, generosity, and laughter.

A woman of many talents, Rosario was industrious, reliable, and entrepreneurial. Throughout her life she worked in many roles, including medical biller, office associate, shoemaker, home apparel and children’s clothing designer and maker, childcare provider, and educator. She was an expert seamstress who designed, altered, and sewed her own clothing as well as garments for her children, skillfully using both manual and electric sewing machines. Through every endeavor, she used her talents and strong work ethic to support and uplift those around her.

Rosario’s deep faith inspired her to travel to some of the world’s most cherished Marian pilgrimage sites, including Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico, Our Lady of Lourdes in France, and Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal. A well-traveled woman, she visited many places throughout her life, including the Philippines, the United States, Hawaii, Mexico, Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and Hungary. One of the most meaningful blessings of her life was seeing four popes in person: Pope Leo, Pope Francis, Pope John Paul II, and Pope Paul IV.

Mama will always be remembered for her unwavering faith, prayerful devotion, strength, joyful presence, and tireless dedication to her family and community. Above all, she will be remembered for the love she shared so freely with everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carlos Comes, and her grandson, Paul Jerome Comes.

Rosario is survived by her children: Rommel & Aida Comes; Louella & Albert Fernandez; Yuri & Regina Comes; Peter & Melanie Comes; Catharina & Michael Sembrano; and Lourdes Rivera & Gabriel Fortich. She is also survived by her siblings, Aurora Reyes and Angelito Zabale.

She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Rosalynd & Salem, Patrick & Cherry, James & Joanna, Jana, Karl, Karina, Pom & Joan, Wiki & Charm, Lolek & Gabrielle, Gabby, Michael, Clare, Monica, and Emmanuel; and her beloved great-grandchildren: Sepideh, Hailey, Khylie, Ariannah, Tristan, Lucil, Renza, Zaki, Lania, Zoey, and Zap. She is also lovingly remembered by 35 nieces and nephews, along with countless relatives and friends whose lives she touched.
