Rosalind Joy "Roz" Fuchs

Rosalind Joy "Roz" Fuchs

September 9, 1942 March 1, 2026

Laguna Hills, CA

Rosalind Fuchs, known affectionately as Roz to most who knew her, passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2026, at the age of 83. She shared a beautiful 57-year marriage with her devoted husband, Hilly. Their love story began when he was a graduate student at Rutgers University and she was working as a secretary. She would ask him to play tennis, and he eventually realized she wanted much more than a partner on the court. They built a life together rooted in deep love, respect, and partnership.

After marrying, they moved to Connecticut where Hilly pursued his PhD at the University of Connecticut. Roz provided most of the income as a secretary while offering the day-to-day support and guidance that helped ensure his success. They welcomed their daughter, Tina, during those years. The family then spent two and a half years in Virginia before returning to New Jersey, where they lived in the same home in East Brunswick for 49 years. Roz worked full time as a legal secretary while devoting herself to being a wonderful mother to Tina and her friends. She managed all household responsibilities, served as the family’s financial caretaker, planned and scheduled their lives, and offered her thoughtful advice to many who sought her wisdom, thanks to her remarkable memory and deep understanding of people.

When Hilly retired in 2009, they became nearly inseparable, always together and tending to one another with steady, tender care. In December 2025, Roz and Hilly moved to California to live with their daughter Tina and grandsons Trevor, 22, and Aiden, 19. Though their time there was shorter than hoped, those final months were deeply meaningful as she cherished being close to her family after years apart. Roz treasured every moment with her grandsons, listening intently to their passions and always making time for them. She carried herself with grace and warmth, always classy, kind, and beautifully put together, with her hair fixed and makeup on whether staying home or going out. She quietly supported Hilly during his more than ten years as president of their local AARP chapter and, together, they built lasting friendships.

Roz is survived by her beloved husband, Hilly; her devoted daughter, Tina; her cherished grandsons, Trevor and Aiden; her brother, Michael, and his wife, Marie; and many dear family and friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and gentle spirit. She will be remembered for her elegance, her quiet strength, and the profound love she shared with her family.
