Magnolia, TX

Rondy Louis Spardella, age 72, of Magnolia, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 5, 2026. Born on February 19, 1954, in Houston, Texas, to Louis and Veda Spardella, Rondy lived a life centered on devotion to his family, loyalty to his friends, and a joyful spirit that touched everyone who knew him.

While attending Aldine High School, Rondy met the love of his life, Cheryl. Their high school romance blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and they married in December 1975. Together they built a strong and loving family that remained the heart of Rondy’s world. An accomplished athlete, he played baseball at Aldine High School and continued his career at Rice University. He went on to serve 36 years with Harris County Flood Control.

To those closest to him, Rondy was affectionately known as “Scooter.” His grandchildren lovingly called him “PawDad” and “Poppy.” He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—dancing, cheering on the Houston Astros, and sharing jokes and laughter with family and friends. Above all, he was a devoted family man who would do anything for those he loved. His warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication will be deeply missed. His brightest light was his six precious grandchildren.

Rondy is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Cheryl Spardella; his children, Rondy Spardella II and wife Brandie, Dustin Spardella and wife Sarah, and Brandi Phenix and husband Kyle; and his cherished grandchildren, Stratton, Hudson, Luca, Luciana, Vance, and Elaine. He is also survived by his siblings, Jamie White, Lisa Morton, Pete Spardella, and Mary Thompson; his mother-in-law, Barbara “Honey” Brown; brothers-in-law, Daryl Brown and Bart Bakenhus; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members. His legacy of love, loyalty, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
