Ronald Ray Heinzen

October 24, 1943 March 10, 2026

Indianapolis, IN

Ronald Ray Heinzen, age 82, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on March 10, 2026. Born on October 24, 1943, Ron was a man of integrity and quiet dedication. He graduated from Scecina High School and Indiana Business College, where he met the love of his life, Carol. Their 56-year marriage became the cornerstone of his world.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Ron served during the Vietnam War at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, where he oversaw the disbursement of pay for his fellow service members. This same commitment to precision and reliability shaped his long career in accounting and finance at Merrill Lynch and Mechanics Laundry, where colleagues respected his trustworthiness and professionalism.

Ron was known for his gentle, kind-hearted nature and quick wit that could brighten any room. He shared his great sense of humor freely with friends and strangers alike. An avid auto racing enthusiast, he attended more than forty Indianapolis 500 races and spent many weekends enjoying NASCAR. His fascination with aviation, which he passed on to his son David, brought him special joy, as did watching David’s interests flourish. In later years, he cherished simple pleasures, especially sharing Hoosier Lottery scratch-offs with his grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife, Carol (Griffin) Heinzen; his son, David Heinzen, and daughter-in-law, Jill; his sister, Kathy Daly; and three cherished grandchildren who were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents.
