Ronald Lloyd Trapp

Ronald Lloyd Trapp, 71, of Forest, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born on November 20, 1954, in Freeport, Illinois, to Harold J. and LaVonne R. (Lloyd) Trapp, Ron graduated from Aquin Central Catholic High School in 1972. He earned his college degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and began a long career in production control at Sundstrand in Rockford, Illinois, later continuing in that field until his retirement from Northrop Grumman in Maryland.

Ron cherished time with his family, loved to travel, and took great pride in being a skilled handyman. A lifelong Chicago sports fan, he remained devoted to the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks. In his fifties he found lasting love and married Jennifer Simangca on March 1, 2004, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He embraced life as a husband and father, and together they created many cherished memories while traveling with their daughter on family vacations.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and their daughter, Malinda Trapp; his siblings, Mary Jo (Tim) Mellentine, Susan (Jim) Brannick of Freeport, Illinois, John Trapp of Henrico, Virginia, and Mike (Cyndi) Trapp of Arcola, Missouri; his aunt, Marian Trapp Kronberg of Freeport, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and LaVonne Trapp, his grandparents Merle and Harvey Lloyd and Malinda and Joseph Trapp, and many aunts, uncles, and a cousin.
