He was born on April 11th, 1937 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Forrest Delmer Hines Whitler and Gertrude (Monyhan) Ingram. Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, was a life long truck driver hauling commercial freight of all kinds, a Christian by faith, and loved by all who knew him because of his kind nature and caring soul.Ronald was creative, good with his hands, and had a mind for mechanics. He was always working on multiple projects and could fix most anything if given the chance, especially when it came to things like lawnmowers. He loved a good game of pool and could even hustle back in the day. Although with age his sight may have faded, he was always a good shot. He enjoyed creating custom upholstery, watching country westerns, fishing, talking, and his chickens.Ronald found true joy in bringing life into this world, whether it was plants, puppies, fish, other animals or children. He appreciated all things big and small and he had a special ability to be loved equally in return.In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by; love of his life for over 40 years, Doris Marie Hines; sons, Melvin Branham, Michael Bradds, Donald Hines, and Ronald Hines, Jr.; sisters, Yvonne Ibenthal, Vivian Overton, and Wanda Stewart; and brother, Kenneth Whitler.Left to cherish his memory; son, James Koonce (Linda); daughters, Rhonda Radcliffe, Debbie Mills (Dallas), Diana Hughes (Kenneth), Michelle Craft Shofner (Mitchell), and Christal Crady; 31 Grandchildren; 52 Great Grandchildren; 17 Great-Great Grandchildren; bonus son and caregiver, John Bradds; and his beloved Jack Russell pups, Rosie and Graham.Visitation will be held at the Oak Street Chapel of the Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes (1846 E. Oak Street, New Albany, IN 47150) on Friday, March 13th, 2026 from 1 PM – 6 PM with the funeral service to begin at 6 PM.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
