Ronald Lee Ginger

December 24, 1934 March 5, 2026

Cincinnati, OH

Ronald "Ron" Lee Ginger of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 91. Born in Eaton, Ohio, on Christmas Eve in 1934 to Kenneth and Grace Ginger, Ron lived a life marked by grit, determination, and a deep love for his family and community.

After graduating from Ohio University with a degree in Journalism in 1957, he married the love of his life, Myra Alter, in 1958. Ron spent nearly 40 years as a dedicated journalist, working as a reporter, editor, and photographer for various local newspapers. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and an endless supply of corny dad jokes. A man of courage and empathy, he once rushed into a burning car to rescue several teens following a train accident.

Ron cherished photography, music, sports, sushi, and wine. An avid athlete in his youth, he later found deep passion in bicycling, participating for decades in organized rides including the Great Ohio Bike Adventure (GOBA), Tour of the Scioto River Valley (TOSRV), and Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI). He often brought his grandchildren along, creating lasting memories on the road. In retirement, he remained active, volunteering as a van driver for the elderly at Mason Christian Village and writing newsletters for the Cincinnati Bicycle Association. He held a special affection for animals, especially dogs and Schnauzers.

Ron is survived by his son, Elliott Ginger (Vicki), his daughters, Kelly Stockwell and Amy Ginger (Frank), his grandchildren Allison Ginger (Paul), Michael Berg (Mercedes), Chris Ginger and Claire Diaz (Connor), and his great-granddaughter Chloe Ginger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myra, his parents, his sister Doris Martin, and his son-in-law Dean Stockwell.
