Ronald Motyka ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Van Tassel Funeral Home on Mar. 10, 2026.Ronald Louis Motyka, age 57, of Hawthorne, NJ passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 surrounded by his family. Born on May 15, 1968 in Paterson, NJ, to Louis Douglas Motyka (2011) and Wanda Teresa Motyka (Kaszycki). Ron was a beloved brother, son, cousin, uncle, and friend cherished by many. He attended Glen Rock High School in Glen Rock, NJ and graduated in 1986. He attended the University of Colorado. Ron loved working with and selling electronics. He worked as a roadie with The Nerds, spending time at Joe Pops in Long Beach Island and Bahr's in Highlands, NJ. Known for his caring and loving personality, Ron was a passionate skipper and fisherman. He loved to be on the water, spending time at lakes and Sandy Hook, NJ. He spent some time recently living on his Bertram yacht in happiness. As a brother, he was my first friend and partner in countless childhood adventures. He was always there when I needed him. His presence in our lives was a true gift. He was the best big brother a girl could have. Ron was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back if he could. Ron loved fishing, nature, family, friends, laughter, the Grateful Dead, dogs, the sea, his faith, his son and his nephews. Ron is survived by his son, Eric Motyka, his mother Wanda Motyka, sister Jacqueline Motyka Helfricht, brother-in-law, William Todd Helfricht, nephews Jacob Louis, 11 (Godson) and Dylan Craig, 9 and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Louis Douglas Motyka on January 9, 2011..In lieu of flowers donation can be sent to the family. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
