Altona, MB
Ron Klassen passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at the age of 75 after many years of declining health. Born on January 30, 1951, in Winnipeg to John and Edith Klassen, Ron was born with a congenital heart defect that was considered untreatable at the time. Against all expectations, he survived and underwent lifesaving open heart surgery at the age of ten. This surgery allowed him to run and play like other children and to build a full life into adulthood.
Ron was predeceased by his father in 2009 and his mother in 2015. He remained close to both parents, and their deaths were profound losses for him. After struggling in school, he left early to join his parents in the family flooring business. He worked hard installing floors alongside his father and took genuine pride in being part of the family enterprise.
A warm and outgoing man, Ron devoted many years to raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, a cause that became deeply personal after watching his father’s struggle with the disease. His friendly personality made him a natural fundraiser; he had no hesitation approaching anyone he met to ask for a donation, and he frequently led in the amount of money raised.
Ron's greatest joy was his beloved dog Casey, a little Pomeranian mix who brought him constant love and companionship. Casey gave Ron a reason to get out and walk every day, and the two shared many happy years together. Ron is survived by his sister Karen Loeppky, his niece Amber West, his nephew Dustin Loeppky, and their families. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
