February 13, 1931— March 3, 2026
South St. Paul, MN
Ronald John Bergman, age 95, was called home to eternal life on March 3, 2026. Born on February 13, 1931, in St. Paul to Joseph and Katherine Bergman, Ron spent most of his life in South St. Paul, where he remained deeply rooted in faith, family, and community.
On November 17, 1951, he married the love of his life, Margaret. Their devoted marriage, grounded in love and faith, became the foundation of a life centered on one another and their children. Ron served his country honorably in the United States Army Signal Corps, stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict, and was discharged with the rank of Corporal. Upon returning home, he worked at the packing house before beginning a long career as a firefighter for the City of South St. Paul, where he protected others with quiet courage and steadfast commitment.
In retirement, Ron and Margaret traveled extensively, visiting New Zealand, Germany, Ireland, Hawaii, Alaska, and many states across the country. He found simple joy in his hobbies—fishing, woodworking, and gardening—but his favorite place was sitting peacefully on the bench at the end of his dock, listening to the loons.
Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret, and his son Joseph, with whom he now rejoices in God’s heavenly kingdom. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Kathleen, Terese (Bud), Nancy (Roger), and Mary, his son John, 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and his good friend June.
