Ronald Ed Tidwell
September 2, 1958— March 10, 2026
Godley, TX
Ronald Ed “Ron” Tidwell passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at home surrounded by family after a long and difficult battle with dementia. Even through his illness, he displayed the same stubborn strength and determination that defined his life, fighting until the very end.
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 2, 1958, Ron was the son of Walter Lee “WL” Tidwell and Dorothy Janiel Tidwell. He spent his early years in Fort Worth before moving to Godley, Texas, where he raised his family. A hardworking businessman, he owned and operated his own drywall company for more than twenty years before retiring. Though he took pride in his work, the role he treasured most was that of father. His children meant the world to him, and he showed up for them with steady, dependable love, working hard to provide and taking deep pride in the family he built.
Ron loved restoring old cars, collecting antiques, and spending quiet days fishing. He had a special fondness for a good chocolate malt and began most mornings with breakfast at Chisholm’s Café, where he enjoyed visiting with familiar faces. He is remembered for his strength, his stubborn spirit, and the quiet, unwavering love he held for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee “WL” Tidwell, a former POW, and Dorothy Janiel Tidwell; his sister, Debbie Tidwell; his brother, Gary “Bull” Tidwell; his brother-in-law, Dan Baker; and his best friend, Wade “Bumpy” Day. Ron is survived by his sons, Clifton Tidwell and wife Janet, and Brian Tidwell; his daughters, Tayla Tidwell and fiancé Blake Brancato, and Tanna Tidwell and boyfriend Elijah Mormon; his beloved dog, Lucy Tidwell; his sisters and brothers; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
