Ronald E. DeTella, age 87, a longtime resident of Flossmoor and formerly of Chicago Heights, passed away peacefully. A graduate of Bloom High School Class of 1956, he went on to earn his architectural degree from the University of Illinois. He enjoyed a distinguished career as a retired partner of DeTella, Planera Architects.
He was the beloved husband for 52 years of the late Dolores DeTella, née D'Angelo. Ronald was a loving father to his son, Joel (Melissa) DeTella, and a proud grandfather to Mia and Michael DeTella. He was the son of the late Cornelia, née Cetrone, and Edward DeTella, and the brother of the late Earl (late Frances) DeTella and Betty (late Dominic) Calacci.
Ronald is also survived by his brother-in-law, Patricia Miller, and the late Philip (Carol) D'Angelo, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews including Kathy (Steve) Selcke, George (Irene) DeTella, Ann Marie Calacci, Carol Calacci, John (Mari Jo) Calacci, Christin (Justin) Papp, Kim D'Angelo Jiracek, Carla D'Angelo Bolin, Todd D'Angelo, and the late Allan (Marcy) DeTella. He will be remembered fondly by a wide circle of friends as a man of quiet strength, creativity, and deep family devotion.
