Ronald Dennis "Dino" Shell

Ronald Dennis “Dino” Shell, 72, of Appling, Georgia, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Greenwood, South Carolina, Dino was married for 53 years to Gloria Lane Shell. He is survived by his son, Ronald Kevin Shell (Joyce), his daughter, Kim Shell Poteet, and his grandsons, Eli Poteet (fiancée Rylie Rutherford), Daniel Poteet, Wesley Shell, Matthew Shell, and Zackary Shell. He is also survived by his brother, Terry Shell (Tammy), his sister, Cindy Shell Crews-Morris (Michael), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Kenneth Shell.

Dino worked for Proctor and Gamble for more than 25 years before finding a second career in auto parts sales, first at Wrens Auto and later at NAPA in Thomson. He was an avid reader and a dedicated fan of the Atlanta Braves, Falcons, Hawks, and University of Georgia football. Above all, he cherished time with his family. He and Gloria filled their home with the laughter of their children and grandchildren, happily playing video games with them on Sundays and proudly watching them compete in sports.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose greatest joy was simply being surrounded by those he loved.
