Ronald Curtis Shields

Ronald “Ron” Curtis Shields, a longtime resident of Brooks, passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on July 26, 1939, in Atlanta to Louie Curtis Shields and Mary Hamilton Shields, Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Glenda Fountain.

Ron enjoyed a distinguished career with Georgia Power, where he served for more than thirty years as a training specialist. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a steadfast friend to all who knew him. A faithful member of Brooks United Methodist Church, Ron taught Sunday school for many years, creating his own lesson plans and taking genuine delight in sharing his faith and offering encouragement to others.

In his later years, he found simple pleasures in fishing with his family and riding his golf cart around his property, often pausing to admire the lake and the quiet beauty of the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Olivia Turner Shields; his daughters, Rhonda Smith and her husband Robby, and Theresa Shields; his brother-in-law, Larry Fountain; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
