Ronald A. Nye

1942 — 2026

Sullivan, MO

Ronald Allen Nye, 83, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 12, 2026. Born on June 17, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Forrest and Cleo (Souders) Nye, Ron grew up in Bourbon, Missouri, graduating from local schools in 1959. He served four years in the United States Air Force before receiving an honorable discharge.

Ron met his high school sweetheart, Judy Falloon, at the local skating rink, and they married on December 23, 1961. Together they raised three sons, Todd, Bryan, and Dustin, who were the center of his world. The family lived in Pacific, Missouri, and Irving, Texas, before settling in St. Charles, Missouri, in 1971. Ron worked for McDonnell Douglas and LTV Aerospace, earned an Associate’s degree in Business from Texas Christian University through night study, and later co-founded Nye Building Company Inc. with Judy in 1978. They built homes and developed subdivisions before moving to Farmington and eventually Sullivan in 1995 to help care for Judy’s aging parents.

A man of deep Christian faith, Ron approached life with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit. He loved machinery, tractors, and “moving dirt,” and he created lasting memories with his family through boating trips, river outings, and lake adventures. He cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, speaking of them to everyone he met. Ron also enjoyed old country music, collecting belt buckles and antique pocket watches, and dreaming up new business ideas even in his later years.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Judy; sons Todd Nye of Chesterfield, Missouri, Bryan Nye and wife Kristi of Washington, Missouri, and Dustin Nye and wife Karen of Augusta, Missouri; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Michael Nye and wife Anne of St. Peters, Missouri; four sisters, Patricia Lizotte and Sharon Babcock of Rolla, Missouri, Linda Brown of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Nancy Horner of Portland, Oregon; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Don and Robert Nye.
