February 2, 1939— March 1, 2026
Iron Mountain, MI
Ronald Earl Brown, 87, of Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, at Florence Health Services in Florence, Wisconsin.
Born on February 2, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to Earl and Carmen (Plummer) Brown, Ron graduated from Morenci High School in 1957. That same year, he married Lucy Ann Miller, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted 69 years. He served in the United States Navy for two years before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. Ron spent thirty years teaching Industrial Arts at Dearborn High School, where he specialized in electronics and later earned a Master’s degree while teaching night classes at Henry Ford Community College. His dedication to hands-on learning left a lasting impact on generations of students.
A skilled carpenter who could repair nearly anything, Ron spent his summers working construction in the Dearborn area and building a cabin on Whitefish Bay along Lake Superior. The cabin became a cherished gathering place for family and friends in the community of Paradise. He found joy in boating, fishing, woodworking, and building and flying remote control airplanes. An avid traveler, Ron and Lucy explored many states with their travel trailer before settling in Chandler, Arizona, where they spent nearly thirty winters after his retirement. In 2000, they moved to Iron Mountain to be closer to their grandchildren, dividing their time between Arizona and Michigan.
Ron is survived by his wife Lucy, his daughters Devona Brown (Todd Seppi) and Rhonda (Dan) Carey of Iron Mountain, and his four grandchildren, Zakariah Blackmon, Nathaniel Carey, Myles Carey, and Gabrielle Carey. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandi Antis.
