Romilda Louise Jacobs

Romilda Louise Jacobs, 97, passed away peacefully at her home on March 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 13, 1928, in Ohio as the sixth of seven children to Benjamin and Katherine Lubbers, she married Ralph Joseph Jacobs, Sr., a World War II veteran. Together they moved from one Army base to another, including four camps in Japan, building a life defined by resilience, faith, and devotion to family.

A lifelong Catholic and active member of Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church in Decatur, Alabama, Romilda served as a scout leader, volunteered in her children’s schools, and sang in the church choir. For the last 35 years of her life, she lived with her daughter Barbara Eddy, sharing a close and cherished bond. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ralph Joseph Jacobs, Sr., her parents, her son William Eugene Jacobs, her daughter Linda Marie Jacobs, and a grandson, Daniel Jacobs.

She is survived by her sons, Ralph Joseph Jacobs, Jr. and Ronald Matthew Jacobs (Phala); her daughters, Gloria Jacobs Garrison and Barbara Eddy; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Her family will always remember her quiet strength, her deep faith, and the steady love she gave to every generation.
