Romelle Schoff ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Bussell Family Funerals - Carmel on Feb. 27, 2026.Romelle Maureen Schoff, 90, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.Romelle was born on June 14, 1935, in San Pierre, Indiana, to Otto and Bernice Cesal. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lon Cesal.Romelle was married for 63 years to the love of her life, Edward "Ed" Schoff, a high school teacher and Air Force veteran, who also preceded her in death. Together they built a devoted family and shared many years of love and laughter. Romelle and Ed traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states as well as Australia, Canada, Ireland, and Mexico-journeys that created cherished memories for them and treasured stories for their family.Before retiring, Romelle worked for many years as the payroll administrator for the Arnett Clinic in Lafayette, Indiana, where she was known for her reliability, dedication, and strong work ethic.Throughout her life, Romelle was deeply involved in her children's activities and her community. She served as a Girl Scout leader, President of the Lafayette Swim Club, and President of the Vinton PTA-roles in which she gave generously of her time and energy, made others feel welcome and formed lasting friendships. She also loved spending time outdoors, especially gardening and fishing, pursuits that brought her both peace and joy.Prior to moving to Fishers, Ed and Romelle lived on the shores of Lake Lemon in Unionville, Indiana, where they enjoyed lake life and an active social circle. They especially loved their time with the Bucks and Does Square Dance Club. The friendships and fellowship she found there were a great source of joy and community throughout her later years.She is survived by her three children: Dennis Schoff, Dianne (Drew) Powers, and Donna Varda.Dennis is the widower of the late Nina Sorensen and father to two daughters, Kathryn "Kat" Schoff (Antonius Hjartarson) and Margaret "Maggie" Schoff. Kat and Antonius are the parents of Romelle's great-granddaughter, Nina Ros Antoniusdotter.Dianne, married to Drew Powers since 2016, has two children: Lindsey (Ross) Bennett and Austin (Julie) York. Lindsey and Ross are the parents of Miles Bennett and Brooke Bennett. Austin and Julie are the parents of Ada York, Finn York, and Margot Romelle York, who proudly carries her great-grandmother's name.Donna is the mother of nine children: Chris Hartman, Jon (Carly) Hartman, Mitchell Varda, Brianna Varda, Claire Varda, Jacob Varda, Francia Varda, Sophie Varda, and Jamie Varda. Mitchell is the parent of Romelle's great-granddaughter, Presley Varda.Romelle will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her deep love of family, her strength through life's challenges, her quick wit and playful sense of humor, and the quiet kindness she extended to those around her.
