Roland Boisvert ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Holt Funeral Home on Mar. 17, 2026.Roland Boisvert, 78, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family and friends. Born into a family of eight children, Roland was the fourth child of the Boisvert family, a role that helped shape his lifelong devotion to family, community, and service. He is predeceased by his brothers George and Richard Boisvert, and survived by his brother Charles Boisvert of Woonsocket; his sisters Lucille Dalton of Cumberland, Muriel Mis of Pawtucket, and Pauline Beaudreault of North Providence; and his brother Ronald Boisvert of Pickerington, Ohio. Roland also leaves behind his lifelong friend and companion, Paulette Giguere of New York. His life was especially brightened by his seven nieces, eleven nephews, twelve grandnieces, and thirteen grandnephews, who brought him joy, laughter, and pride.Roland attended Mount Saint Charles Academy. At the age of 15 he entered the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Novitiate and was known as 'Brother Roland' until his departure five years later. Meanwhile, he studied at Providence College, receiving a Bachelor's degree in History, later going on to earn two Masters degrees at the same institution. He taught briefly at North Smithfield High before returning to Mount Saint Charles in 1978, this time as a teacher. Within a few years he became Dean of Students, followed soon by Assistant Principal of Discipline, roles particularly suited to his sense of perspective and fairness. In total, he spent 44 years in affiliation with the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and the Mount Saint Charles community.Roland was a constant at Mount, opening the school at dawn, closing its doors after late-night events, and always making himself available. He organized many social outings, golf tournaments, bowling and movie nights, fostering camaraderie amongst the faculty and building a spirit of community that came to characterize his tenure at the school.Roland was a also natural athlete and sports enthusiast. Throughout his life he played baseball, football, softball, basketball, hockey, and golf. As his many good friends would attest, he was fun-loving yet fiercely competitive, honing his skills to perform at his best. His dedication translated seamlessly into coaching, including his 17 years as the cross-country coach at Mount. His interests manifested beyond the school and athletic fields, and he was often on the go, with frequent treks down the hill to visit his adopted family, the Giguere's. An anchor in his own family, he hosted dinners for his siblings in the family kitchen, affectionately named "Rol's Cucina", where he attempted to wow his guests with culinary wizardly, reliably ending with the family obsession....ice cream.Roland earned the respect and affection of friends, colleagues and students alike. He'll be remembered for his loyalty, humor, consistency, and his competitive spirit, as well as the quiet strength that enriched the lives of all who had the privilege to know him.He will be deeply missed. His funeral will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St, Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Agatha's Church, 34 Joffre Ave, Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday from 4 - 7 PM.
