Roland Eugene "Gene" Anstine

Roland Eugene “Gene” Anstine, 66, of Stewartstown, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026. Born on December 16, 1959, in West York, Pennsylvania, to Roland G. Anstine and the late Nancy Anstine (Wolf), Gene was a devoted son, brother, and partner.

Gene began his lifelong commitment to his community in 1980 when he joined the Glen Rock Hose & Ladder Co. Within two years he became a line officer and went on to serve with distinction in numerous leadership roles, including 2nd Assistant Chief from 1985 to 1987, 1st Assistant Chief in 1988 and 1999, and Chief of the Department from 1990 to 2003 and again from 2011 to 2014. In recognition of his many years of dedicated service, he was named a Life Member in 1998. He also found quiet joy in setting up and caring for the train garden at the library.

He is survived by his father, Roland G. Anstine; his sister, Jeanette Tome; his girlfriend, Britany Zembower; and her children, Kaitlyn Conklin and Kaleb Conklin.
