Roger R. "Bud" Davis, 99, of Wapakoneta, passed away 2:02 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, surrounded by his family. He was born October 19, 1926, in Auglaize Co., the son of the late Raymond and Ferrol (Campbell) Davis. On December 31, 1957, he married Doris Jean Leece, and she preceded him in death on April 15, 2018.Survivors include,4 children, Jeannie (John-dec) Schlenker, Wapakoneta, Jim Davis, Trenton, NJ,Christine "Tina" (David) Maurer, New Bremen,Edward (Hollie Bayes) Davis, Wapakoneta;7 grandchildren,Jennifer Davis, Tracy (Ben) Langenkamp, Kimberly Maurer, Thomas Maurer, Joseph Maurer, Tyler Giles, and Libby Florian2 great grandchildren;siblings, Pat (Gene-dec) Cummins, Wapakoneta,Ned (Katherine-dec) Davis, Wapakoneta,Sue (Delmar-dec) Jeanneret, Wapakoneta,Don Davis, Lakeview;numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.He was preceded in death by his siblings and spouses, Ruth (Carl) Cummins, Roy H. Davis, Robert Davis, Jean (Wayne) Goble, Joan (Maurice) Gratz, Richard (Jeannette) Davis, Dean Davis, Jane (Dean) Oakley, and Ronnie Davis. Bud retired as a fabricator from Clark Equipment in Lima. After his retirement, he spent many years training trotters and pacers at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds. He was a graduate of New Hampshire High School and proudly served as a veteran of the U.S. Army.Bud was a member of American Legion Post #330 in Wapakoneta and the Harness Racing Association. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, following harness racing, and watching the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Guardians. Above all, Bud treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Anthony Spearhart officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445. The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Auglaize C. Historical Assn. or the Auglaize Co.
