Roger R. “Bud” Davis, 99, of Wapakoneta, passed away on March 6, 2026, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 19, 1926, in Auglaize County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Ferrol (Campbell) Davis. He graduated from New Hampshire High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army. On December 31, 1957, he married Doris Jean Leece, who preceded him in death on April 15, 2018.
Bud worked as a fabricator at Clark Equipment in Lima before retiring. In the years that followed, he devoted himself to training trotters and pacers at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds. A member of American Legion Post #330 in Wapakoneta and the Harness Racing Association, he found great joy in fishing, following harness racing, and cheering for the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Guardians. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his four children, Jeannie (John, dec.) Schlenker of Wapakoneta, Jim Davis of Trenton, New Jersey, Christine “Tina” (David) Maurer of New Bremen, and Edward (Hollie Bayes) Davis of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Davis, Tracy (Ben) Langenkamp, Kimberly Maurer, Thomas Maurer, Joseph Maurer, Tyler Giles, and Libby Florian; two great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Pat (Gene, dec.) Cummins, Ned (Katherine, dec.) Davis, Sue (Delmar, dec.) Jeanneret, all of Wapakoneta, and Don Davis of Lakeview. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses, Ruth (Carl) Cummins, Roy H. Davis, Robert Davis, Jean (Wayne) Goble, Joan (Maurice) Gratz, Richard (Jeannette) Davis, Dean Davis, Jane (Dean) Oakley, and Ronnie Davis.
