Roger J. Martin

Roger J. Martin, age 90, of St. Anthony, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born on November 17, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, the second of three sons, Roger graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1953 and remained a devoted alumnus throughout his life. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Michigan Tech University, where he met his future wife, Janet DeMars. After graduation, he served his country as an Air Force officer, attaining the rank of captain, both domestically and overseas. Following his honorable discharge, he settled in St. Anthony, Minnesota, and worked for Honeywell in Minneapolis, contributing to the design and manufacture of avionics until his retirement.

In retirement, Roger began a second chapter as a volunteer tax preparer for AARP, where he found joy in the mathematical challenges and camaraderie that brightened the quiet winter months. An enthusiastic bridge player, sports trivia expert, jazz enthusiast, and film buff, he remained an ardent supporter of his grandchildren’s sports and activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, his wife Janet, and his son Rodney. Roger is survived by his son Eric, his daughter Allison, and six grandchildren: Alaina, Philippos, Noelle, Isidora, Phaidra, and Owen.
