With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Roger Frederic Townsend of North Collins, New York, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 7, 2026 at the age of 82. He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Townsend and Mary Loraine Townsend (Kraatz); his wife Shirley Pencille Townsend of John's Parish; his in-laws, Orville and Rita Pencille (Burns); and his brothers, Ronald, Richard, Donald and Douglas.
He is survived by: his children, Karen Claud-Janiga (Charles Janiga), Roger Eric Townsend (Stacy Peck) and Leann Dannemiller (J. Shae Dannemiller); his grandchildren, Mitchell Claud, Patrick Claud, Alexandria Dunham (Caleb), Nicole Sadda (Aram), Roger L. Townsend, Adam Barnes (Madison) and Jake Barnes; his great grandchildren, Natalie, Allison Dunham, Nolita and Axel Sadda; his siblings, Bruce Townsend (Patti), Chip Townsend (Ron Silvario), Mary Bessinger (late Gordon), Dorothy Ramming (John), Ruth Ann Laport (late David) and Jane Dent (Richard); his in-law Shirley Townsend Marty (late Richard); his brother-in-law Richard Pencille (Annette); and his friends, Ann, Tom Fiegl and Donna Beshaw. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home (242 Genesee St, Lockport, NY 14094).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger's memory to Hospice and Palliative Care Buffalo (HospiceBuffalo.com).
