October 9, 1947— March 11, 2026
Miamisburg, OH
Roger E. Wilcher, age 78, of Miamisburg, passed away unexpectedly on March 11, 2026.
Roger graduated from Waynesville High School in 1966 and honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He built a hardworking career, first at Dayton Tire and Rubber, followed by field work and construction, before retiring in 2006 after more than ten years as an equipment operator with Sand & Gravel Construction Company.
From an early age, Roger developed a deep love for the outdoors. He cherished horses through his involvement in 4-H and later became active in harness racing at Lebanon Raceway as both a trainer and driver. He enjoyed fishing at the gravel pit where he worked and at Caesar Creek Lake, and he found great joy in riding motorcycles on long road trips. Some of his happiest times were spent with family, whether camping in their pop-up camper, carrying on the spring tradition of mushroom hunting, or tending his garden and flowerbeds where tomatoes always had a special place. Roger was remembered as an energetic, outgoing, and personable man who saw the good in everyone. Hardworking and dependable, he was deeply devoted to his wife Vicki and took great pride in his family and the memories they created together.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dale Wilcher; his daughter, Kim McLester; his parents, Eugene Wilcher and Sarah Davenport; his brothers, Terry Wilcher and Robert Wilcher; and his sister, Ruth Lee. Roger is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Harder; his son, William Harder; his daughter, Ami Ripley; his grandchildren, Samuel, Jayden, Madelynn, Jaylinn, and Jaylah; his great-grandchild, Delilah Jean Napier; his brothers, Russell (Blanche) Wilcher and Robin (Elaine) Wilcher; and his sister, Rita Ling.
