Sarcoxie, MO

Roger Dale Weist passed away on March 9, 2026, at his home in Sarcoxie, Missouri, surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. Born in Columbus, Ohio, on November 21, 1955, to Dale and Ollie Herron, Roger lived a life centered on hard work, family, and simple pleasures.

He spent more than forty years in the trucking industry as a driver, dispatcher, and diesel mechanic. Even in retirement, he continued to offer guidance and help to others in the field, often troubleshooting truck repairs over the phone. Roger found joy in fishing, lively family gatherings, and evenings spent playing poker and canasta.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Dale Herron, his mother, Ollie Weist, his stepfather, Paul Weist, and his sister, Dianna Davidson. He is survived by his partner of thirty years, Debi Maggard; his sisters MaryAnn Weise of Kentucky, Bonnie Wood of Alabama, and Patricia Wade of West Virginia; his brothers William B. Wood of Kansas, David Weist of Ohio, and his sister Teresa Hayes of Sarcoxie, Missouri. He is also survived by his children Roger Weist of Ohio, Michael Weist of Joplin, Brandy Weist of Sarcoxie, Wes Weist of Ohio, and Jennifer Faucett of Miller, as well as bonus children Jason Gass of Sarcoxie and Will Copeland of Jane. Roger leaves behind twenty-four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his dear friend Dana “Ink” Reynolds.

He will be remembered as a devoted family man whose quiet strength, generosity, and love for those around him left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
