August 14, 1946 March 7, 2026

Ocala, FL

Roger Alan Loomis, 79, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on March 7, 2026. Born on August 14, 1946, in Beloit, Wisconsin, to Carl and Marion Loomis, Roger graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1964. He completed an apprenticeship at Landis Tool Company in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, becoming a Journeyman Machinist. In 1990, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Hamilton University. Over his career, he worked as a mechanical engineer for Caterpillar Tractor, Cummins Diesel, Sencorp, and Heatcraft, where he was granted a U.S. patent for an air conditioning coil. He later owned a Budget Blinds franchise before retiring to Florida.

Roger found deep joy in studying the Bible, teaching Sunday School, and sharing his faith in Jesus Christ with others. He was an avid supporter of the Penn State Nittany Lions, loved playing games with family and friends, and cherished rounds of golf. Above all, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lemma; son Brett Loomis of Bozeman, Montana; daughter Adrianna and her husband Rob Fletcher of Ocala, Florida; grandchildren Joshua, David, Kara (Tyler), Brooke, and Daniel; sisters Linda and Judy; and brothers Carl (Jane) and Tom (Melody). He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marion Loomis, and brothers Ronnie and Gary.
