Rodney Locklear

Rodney Locklear, age 67, of Maxton, North Carolina, passed away on March 7, 2026. Born in Robeson County on November 17, 1958, he graduated from Pembroke Senior High School in 1976. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1979, serving first as a Medical Specialist and later as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg.

Son of the late Evans Locklear and Lucille Locklear, Rodney was preceded in death by his father and siblings Joyce Ann, Regina, and Jim Evans Locklear. He is survived by his children, Amy Owens and her husband Gary of Rowland, Carl W. Jones of Red Springs, and Robert Locklear of Pembroke; four grandchildren, Garbrena, Gary Owens II, Alana Owens, and Isaiah Locklear; and his siblings Patricia Locklear of the home, Linda Jacobs, Mary Rose Jones and her husband Evangelist Jimmy Jones, and Vicky Deese, all of Maxton. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Grace Locklear of Lumberton, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Rodney found great joy in time spent with his family, particularly while fishing and watching NASCAR races with his nephews. His warm presence and steady love touched many hearts, leaving a legacy that will live on in those who knew him best. He will be deeply missed.
