Rodney Troulias ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home on Mar. 16, 2026.Rodney Lee Troulias of Hoover, Ala. passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026, after several months of health complications.Rodney was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 1, 1957, to Bera Elise Porterfield Troulias and John Troulias Sr. He graduated from Ensley High School and was a retired electronics salesman. In his younger years, he attended many rock concerts and continued his love for music throughout his life. Rodney was a devoted Alabama football fan and had met many football legends. He enjoyed telling his children and grandchildren stories of his youth and exciting adventures. For many years he enjoyed fishing and painting, until his health worsened. Rodney was a member of Oak Mountain Church of Christ, but in recent months had been unable to get out often. He was thrilled anytime he was able to see his grandchildren. Rodney is survived by his daughters, Tyler Smiley (Jason) and Casey Wilhite (Austin), and their mother, Rebecca Smith; grandsons, Jaxon and Grayson Smiley, and Bodie and J.D. Wilhite; brothers, John and Wayne Troulias. The family appreciates the care provided by the staff members of Dogwood Plantation, TLC Nursing Center (Oneonta), South Haven Rehabilitation, and UAB Highlands Hospital.A visitation will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at noon.
