Rodney B. Armentrout passed away on February 27, 2026, at the age of 80 in Kingsport, Tennessee. Born on July 13, 1945, in Webster Springs, West Virginia, he spent his early years in Cairo, where he graduated from Cairo High School.
Rodney served honorably as a medic in the US Army during the Vietnam War, showing dedication and compassion in his care for others. After his military service, he built a long and respected career as a Tool and Die Engineer with Delphi Packard Electric, a former division of General Motors. He devoted more than 30 years to the company, working in Warren, Ohio, and Clinton, Mississippi, where his expertise and strong work ethic earned him the admiration of his colleagues.
Beyond his professional life, Rodney was a dedicated coin collector who found great joy in spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his kind nature and his quiet sense of humor, qualities that touched everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Mary F. (Ball) Armentrout; his children, R. Scott (Sheila) Armentrout and Amy (Robert) Proffitt; his brother, Phillip; and his grandchildren, George and William Armentrout, Garrett and Emily Proffitt. He also leaves behind several special nieces and nephews. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Lonnie and Velva (Hamrick) Armentrout, and his siblings, Larry and David Armentrout, Georgia Rollman, Betty Posey, Lura Rankin, and Beverly Fahrion.
