Robin Whitley “Robbie” Hood, II, age 64, of Carolina Beach and formerly of Benson, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at his residence. Born on October 24, 1961 in Johnston County, he was the son of the late Robin Whitley and Lois Barefoot Hood.
Robbie founded and led Robin Hood Companies. He was an avid fisherman, licensed pilot, and passionate traveler who loved heading to warm destinations and forming lasting friendships wherever he went. A dedicated Master Mason, he belonged to Relief Lodge 431 in Benson and the Scottish Rite Body. He was also an honorary member of the Sudan Dunn Clowns, a member of the Islamorada Fishing Club, and a lifelong NC State fan. Those who knew Robbie remember his servant’s heart, his ability to befriend anyone, and the way his warmth made everyone feel welcome.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wendy Marie Hood; his brother, John Ross Hood; and his beloved dogs, Barney and Hershey.
Robbie is survived by his sister, Rene H. Honeycutt and her husband Brian; his sister-in-law, Sheri Hood; nieces and nephews John Tyler Hood, Corey Robert Hood, Dylan Honeycutt and wife Lauren, Reagan Vanek, Westin Vanek, Jake Vanek, and Reese Honeycutt; great-niece Parker Honeycutt; his longtime partner, Christy Godwin; his dedicated assistant and dear friend, Denise Jernigan; and his close friends Tim Stevens, Scott Barnes, David Dunn, and sons Dave and Adam Dunn.
