Robin Hurst ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Cox Funeral Home - Hamilton on Mar. 9, 2026.Robin McLennan Hurst, age 71, of Pine Mountain, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in her home with her loving husband, Mike.Robin was born on May 6, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of Rev. Kenneth Robert McLennan and Joyce McLennan. Born on her father's birthday, her name was inspired by his name, Robert, and his coincidental love of birds. Robin spent her early childhood in Atlanta before her family moved to Sewanee, Tennessee, where her father attended seminary. The family later lived in several areas of South Carolina as he served in the Episcopal Diocese.Robin met the love of her life, Mike, while attending Lander College in Greenwood, South Carolina. As a sophomore, she made the decision to leave school to begin their life together, starting a journey of marriage and family that would span more than five decades. They were married in Edgefield, South Carolina, and later moved to Spartanburg before settling in LaGrange, Georgia, where they raised their family and lived for more than 40 years.Later in life, Robin proudly fulfilled a lifelong goal of completing her college education. She graduated with honors from LaGrange College and went on to work there as an administrative assistant. During that time, she traveled to Europe with several student groups studying the arts, experiences she treasured deeply.Robin had a profound love for the arts and literature. She enjoyed reading and was a gifted seamstress who lovingly created custom, hand-embroidered clothing for her children and others. Serving others was central to who she was. She generously volunteered her time with St. Vincent de Paul at St. Peter's Catholic Church in LaGrange.Robin was a woman of strong faith, a devoted wife, and a loving mother. One of her greatest joys was being "Gigi" to her twin granddaughters, whom she loved dearly. Upon retirement, Robin and Mike settled into a loving community within Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, an area filled with cherished family memories.She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bill McLennan.Robin is survived by her loving husband of nearly 52 years, Michael D. Hurst of Pine Mountain; her children, Kelly H. Brunn of Brookhaven, Georgia, and Daniel R. Hurst of Amelia Island, Florida; her cherished granddaughters, Annabelle and Josie Brunn of Brookhaven, Georgia; her sisters, Michelle (Chuck) McGee of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Joy (Dan) Hickey of Cumming, Georgia; sister-in-law Nancy Roach of Madison, Alabama; brother-in-law Kenny (Kim) Hurst of South Point, Ohio; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.A Memorial Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church beginning at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 13, 2026. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:15 AM until 10:45 AM at the church.
