Robert Wane Nelson Sr.

Robert W. Nelson Sr. of Charlestown, Rhode Island, passed away on March 4, 2026 at the West Warwick Nursing and Rehab facility. Born in New London, Connecticut, on October 6, 1948, he was the son of the late Richard Nelson and Grace Murphy. He was the devoted husband of the late Elaine Marie Nelson.

Bob worked as a painter and tool crib technician at Electric Boat and also as a chef at the 95 House in New London. Known for his warm smile and wonderful sense of humor, he enjoyed dancing, swimming at the Y, and sharing many activities with his wife while she was alive. He was an avid sports fan who loved watching football, baseball, and hockey.

He is survived by his beloved son, Robert W. Nelson Jr., and several nieces and nephews. Bob spent the final four years of his life at West View Nursing and Rehab, where he was deeply appreciated by the staff who cared for him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine M. Nelson.
