Robert Walton "Rob" Zimmerman

Robert "Rob" Walton Zimmerman, 67, of Lawrenceville, Ga., passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He was a native of Cherokee County (Andrews), and the son of the late Bruce W. Zimmerman and Lena Palmer Zimmerman of Marble, N.C. Robert was a great son, husband, dad and "Pop." He was easygoing, loved hard and spoke little. He enjoyed watching sports, especially Georgia Bulldog games. He loved his family deeply and had a special place in his heart for each one. Watching his grandchildren play baseball and swim was his delight. He was a member of Marble Springs Baptist Church. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Brian Zimmerman. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 31 years, Ronda Smith Zimmerman of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three sons, Erik Zimmerman and Ashley of Jefferson, Ga., Paul Smith and wife Galilee of Birmingham, Ala., and Derik Smith and wife April of Cumming, Ga.; and six grandchildren, Aaron, Tylor, Payton, Jackson, Theo and Lola. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at Marble Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Toby Roehm officiated. Burial followed in Moss Cemetery in Marble, N.C. Pallbearers were Aaron Smith, Tylor Smith, Jackson Zimmerman, Howard Coffey, Paul Smith, Derik Smith and Adam Williams. The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at Marble Springs Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church at P.O. Box 264, Marble, NC 28905.
