Elgin, IL
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert William Koch, who left this world far too soon on March 12, 2026, at the tender age of 19. Born on December 22, 2006, in Elgin, Illinois, Robert was a beacon of joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His life, though brief, was filled with a love and compassion that touched everyone around him.Robert was cherished deeply by his parents, Christopher and Holly Koch, who nurtured his kind and generous spirit. He is also survived by his loving grandparents, Bill and Kathy Koch, and Robert Grist, who were endlessly proud of the young man he became. Robert leaves behind his devoted Aunt and Uncle, Tarek and Heather Koch, and Uncle Tim Koch, as well as Aunt and Uncle, Guy and Kim Parker. His cousins, McKenna and Bryce Koch, and Killian and Lora Parker, will forever hold memories of their beloved cousin close to their hearts. He will also be missed greatly by his Godparents Amy and Doug Wagner. Robert was predeceased by his grandmother, Marie Grist, whose memory he always cherished.
A proud graduate of South Elgin High School, Class of 2025, Robert had embarked on his educational journey at Elgin Community College, where his future promised endless possibilities. He was a dedicated student of National Karate, earning his first degree black belt in 2019 and an advanced brown belt in Krav Maga in 2026. His passion for martial arts was matched only by his love of fishing, collecting trains, and his enjoyment of movies and traveling. Robert's enthusiasm for life's simple pleasures was infectious, and his presence was a gift to everyone he met.
Robert was a young man whose heart held a tremendous amount of love for his family, friends, and community. Known for always having a kind word or a hearty laugh, he was a loving son, a loyal friend, and a generous neighbor. His warmth and compassion left an indelible mark on the lives he touched, and his memory will be cherished by the many friends who were fortunate enough to have shared in his life's journey.
A service to honor Robert's life and legacy will be held on March 21, 2026, at Salerno's Rosedale Chapel, located at 450 West Lake Street, Roselle, Illinois 60172. Family, friends, and all whose lives were graced by Robert are invited to gather in remembrance of a young man who brought so much light into the world.
During this challenging time, the Koch family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their kind words and care. Your support and compassion provide warmth and comfort as we navigate this difficult moment.
Robert William Koch will forever be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and his unwavering love for those around him. Though his time with us was far too brief, his memory will remain a guiding light in the lives of all who knew him. Rest in peace, dear Robert. You will be missed beyond measure, but never forgotten.
