Robert W. Curro, 77, of Newark, Delaware, passed away from complications due to Alzheimer’s disease.
Rob graduated from Garnet Valley High School in 1966 and soon after joined the United States Army, serving for three years. His first day in Vietnam coincided with the beginning of the Tet Offensive. He was primarily stationed in the northern part of the country in Quảng Yên. Following his honorable discharge in 1969, he began working for Levitz Furniture. In 1975, he joined his father-in-law at Scott True Value in Branmar Plaza. He later helped Doug Scott open the Scott True Value store in the Pike Creek Shopping Center in 1981. In 1985, Rob and his wife, Sharman, purchased the store. They moved the business to Lantana Square Shopping Center in Hockessin in 1996. Rob retired in 2017 after selling the store.
Rob enjoyed motorcycling, shooting, and reloading. He had a creative way of thinking through any situation and was always a joy to be around.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edith and John Curro. Rob is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sharman Curro; his son and daughter-in-law, Rocco and Leslie Curro; his daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Ryan Reighn; his five grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Janice Curro; and his sister, MaryAnne Weselyk.
