Robert W. "Bob" Charley

Robert W. "Bob" Charley

July 16, 1947 March 13, 2026

Spring Green, WI

Robert W. “Bob” Charley, age 78, of Spring Green, passed away on March 13, 2026, surrounded by family after a brief illness. He died at his beloved farm in Wilson Creek, beside his husband of nearly sixty years, Tom Alfini. Born in Chicago on July 16, 1947, to Edward and Agnes (Gusten) Charley, Bob met Tom on January 15, 1966, and the two remained devoted partners ever since.

A residential interior designer by training, Bob had a natural gift for creating warm, beautiful, and personal spaces. He later worked alongside Tom at Arc Disposal Company in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, for twenty-two years, then served as a dispatcher for Crown Lift Trucks in Schaumburg. After retiring in 2006 and moving to Spring Green, he became site manager of the Spring Green Senior Center, where he found deep satisfaction in serving his community. Known for his kindness and generosity, Bob was always ready to help those in need and became a caregiver to many. He was a gifted storyteller who shared local memories in the Spring Green newspaper and took special joy in helping others create beautiful homes.

Music was another of Bob’s great gifts. He and his middle brother, Ron, shared a love of singing, and Bob’s voice brought happiness to countless weddings and celebrations. Above all, family was the center of his world. He cherished his own relatives as deeply as he embraced Tom’s, holding them all close to his heart.

Bob is survived by his devoted husband, Tom; his beloved dogs, Louie and Ivy; and his cherished miniature horses, Casey, Dolly, Opie, and Indie. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Gayle Charley, Barb Charley, Laurie Alfini, and Ginger Alfini; many nieces and nephews; and newer family members who brought him great joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Agnes; his older brother, Edward “Mick”; and his middle brother, Ron.
