Robert Vogt ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Merkle Funeral Service, Inc. - North Monroe on Mar. 17, 2026.Robert Vogt was born September 20, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan. He was one of two sons born from the union of David Vogt and Lotta Helen (Campbell) Vogt. After graduating from high school, he became a member of the Army National Guard.Robert valued his community and the art of service; principles that allowed him to take on the responsibility of caring for his parents during their illnesses. As a father, Robert was actively involved in his daughters' activities. In Maybee, he was the coach for his daughters' softball teams, sharing not only his knowledge of the game but also teaching them discipline and teamwork. His support extended to the chilly seats of football stadiums, where he could often be found freezing during games but never missing a halftime show, proudly watching his children perform in the band. One of Robert's greatest joys was watching his granddaughter, Courtney, blossom into a talented hockey player. From her first time on skates at the age of five, to her ambitious journey trying out for the US Olympic hockey team, he was her biggest fan.Robert's love for his family was rivaled by his passion for his community and the environment. He was an active participant in the Maybee community recycling program, believing that safeguarding the planet was a crucial responsibility. He was deeply concerned about child welfare, which led him to a meaningful career at a children's home in Detroit. There, he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of many children, advocating for their needs and futures. His dedication to his community and faith was also evident in his active participation at St. John in Romeo. He remained a devoted member of his church until his health no longer allowed.Robert Vogt, age 86, of Washington, Michigan passed away at ProMedica Toledo Hospital at 7:17pm on Friday; March 13, 2026.
