He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert V. Shuss Sr. and Rosemary McGee Shuss.Rob was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War as a Sergeant with the 1st Cavalry Division. As a helicopter rear gunner, he demonstrated extraordinary bravery in ground combat and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroism on May 7, 1970. His courage and dedication to his fellow soldiers reflected the strength of character he carried throughout his life.Following his service, Rob pursued his lifelong passion for music at Mansfield State College, where he majored in music after graduating from high school. Music was not only his talent but his joy. Known professionally as Bobby Vernon Studios, Rob brought life and warmth to many local restaurants, especially during his many cherished years playing at The Cabin. He was also a devoted church musician, serving as an organist for several congregations over the years, including Shoregate United Methodist Church in Willowick. Through his piano and organ, he touched countless lives and created memories that will endure.Rob's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Sargent (Peter), and granddaughter Sloan Brown; his son, Robert Nicolas Bucar, and grandsons Marko and Luka; and his long-term partner, Phyllis Cicirello. He is also survived by his siblings: Kathryn Haskins of New Cumberland, PA, and her children Daniel Haskins and Charles Haskins; Helen (Betsy) Butler (Richard) of Clearfield, PA, and her children Nathaniel Butler, Jordan Butler, and Tyler Butler; and William Shuss (Christine) of McGees Mills, PA, and his children Steven Shuss and Adam Shuss.Rob will be remembered for his quick wit, his love of melody, his steady strength, and the way he could fill a room with music and heart. His legacy lives on in the notes he played, the bravery he showed, and the family he loved so dearly.Military Honors and Services will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH at a later date.Arrangement have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Painesville.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
