Robert William Strittmatter of Carrollton, Texas passed away on March 6, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on September 20, 1928, to Henry and Emma Strittmatter in Pilot Point, Texas, he graduated from Pilot Point High School in 1946. In 1951, he married Frances Ann Walker, and together they raised six children during their 67 years of marriage.
Robert was a longtime member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for Braniff International Airways from 1957 to 1982, then continued his career with Southwest Airlines until his retirement in 1996. While at Southwest, he was honored with the “Top Wrench” award for his skill and dedication.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George “Buddy” Strittmatter, his wife Frances, his son Robert Jr., and his son-in-law Marc Lister. Robert is survived by his five children, Michael (Polly), Lisa Crosby (Steve), Mark Strittmatter, Kathy Pyle, and Linda Lister, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, his sister Henrietta Rocha, and many nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
