Robert "Bob" Roberts, age 87, of The Plains, Ohio, passed away on March 14, 2026, at his home. Born on July 11, 1938, in Amesville, Ohio, to Harry Roberts and Lucille Brown, Bob lived a full life rooted in his community. A lifelong member of VFW Post #7174 in The Plains, he took great pride in his service and enjoyed traveling the country, visiting 48 of the 50 states during memorable car rides. For many years, he worked as an electrician in Athens County, wiring numerous homes that still stand in the community today. In his free time, he found joy in mowing his yard, watching NASCAR races, and cheering as a devoted Dale Earnhardt fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joy Roberts; sons, Terry (Kim) Roberts and Chris Roberts; grandchildren, Tonya (Adam Mays) Roberts and Nikki (Travis) Nichols; great-grandchildren, Emma (Andrew Dempsey) Mays, Abigail Mays, Thor Mays, Natalie Nichols, and Jameson Nichols; great-great-granddaughter, Nirvana Dempsey; siblings, Sonny Carpenter, Dave (Teresa) Roberts, Ruth Ann (Larry) Totman, and DoraMae Nowel; sister-in-law, Candy Roberts; and special friends, Fred Johnson, Greg Linscott, Mark Abdella, Lenard Dennison, Kathleen Dennison, and Jim Graham.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Brown; parents, Harry and Hazel Roberts; children, Michael Roberts, Carle Roberts, and Lisa Roberts; siblings, Doris (Richard) Hoskin, Milton Roberts, Marrian (Dale) Wogan, Guy Roberts, Sevilla Carpenter, and Norma Smathers; sister-in-law, Mary Carpenter; and brother-in-law, Joe Nowel.
