September 8, 1941— March 9, 2026
Torrington, CT
Robert R. Salinardi, 84, of Torrington, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. Born in Naugatuck, Bob later made his home in Torrington, where he graduated from Torrington High School. He went on to play baseball with passion, including All-Star games with the Waterville Red Wings and time in the instructional league in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was later drafted into the United States Air Force and served his country for four years.
Upon returning to Torrington, Bob built a long career in sales, first with A. Gallo and then for the remainder of his working life with Dwan Company, Inc., a distributor of Eagle Snacks and Budweiser products. He formed deep and lasting friendships there, considering his coworkers an extension of his family. A devoted sports fan throughout his life, Bob was especially loyal to the UConn Huskies, often greeting friends with a cheerful “UConn Baby!” He also remained a steadfast supporter of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics. Those who knew him will remember his quick humor, his familiar “Hey, babe,” and his playful way of asking, “What, do you hate me?”
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Mary Pollack Salinardi and Andy Salinardi, his younger brother James, and his grandmother Anna Donne. He is survived by his extended Dwan Company, Inc. family and many cherished friends.
