Greenville, NC
Robert Pittman “Bob” Hines, Jr., 70, of Greenville, North Carolina, passed away on March 11, 2026, at ECU Health Center.
Born on March 26, 1955, in Pitt County to the late Louise White Hines and Robert Pittman Hines, Bob graduated from D.H. Conley High School and attended Pitt Community College. He worked for many years as a computer technician, earning a reputation for his reliability, steady presence, and quiet wisdom.
A gifted musician, Bob played lead guitar and sang with heartfelt passion, especially praise and worship music. His deep faith was shared fully with his wife of 30 years, Lunette Coburn Hines. Together they served in churches in Greenville, North Carolina; Eagleville and McKenzie, Tennessee; and San Antonio, Texas. Their shared ministry remained at the heart of the life they built.
Bob was a calm and dependable man whose kindness and steadfastness guided his family through every season. He loved to travel and cherished quiet moments with those closest to him. His grandchildren affectionately called him “GrandBob” and brought him great joy. He and Lunette often expressed their affection with the words, “I love you… Bunches and Bunches.”
He is survived by his wife, Lunette; his son, Robbie Bridges and wife Annie of San Antonio, Texas; his daughter, Kimberly B. Merenda and husband Ryan of Wilmington, North Carolina; his sister, Debby Gray and husband Bruce; his brother, Erwin Hines and wife Rie; and his beloved grandchildren, Josiah, Levi, and Grace Bridges, and Luna and Jude Merenda. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
