He was a three-sport athlete in high school focusing on baseball, basketball and football. Bob graduated from Eastern Illinois University after completing two years in the army which paid for his college education. He went on to become a teacher at South Plainfield High School in South Plainfield, New Jersey. Bob taught Marketing and was very involved in the school's cooperative student work program, helping his students obtain jobs at local businesses. He firmly believed that work experience would help his students with school and help them to obtain real world skills for whatever career they decided to pursue.Bob married his wife Donna Zuzzio in 1966. They had two children, Christa and Robert. Bob was a wonderful, caring father who did everything for his children. He coached soccer and little league teams for his son and was very active in local politics for a time. He was a family man and a cherished uncle to all his nieces. Bob was a loving grandfather to his three grandsons. One of his real joys in life was attending his grandsons' games and instilling a strong work ethic in them both on and off the field.He was predeceased by his son, Robert Hainey and his wife, Donna Hainey. Bob leaves behind his brother-in-law Arthur Grant and sister-in-law Cheryl Grant as well as his nieces Lauren Cressman, Megan Grant, Meredith Grant, Andrea Graham, Cheryl Zuzzio and Kimberly Fusca.
