Robert Mark Hawthorne

Robert Mark Hawthorne

May 1, 1960 March 16, 2026

Lisbon, OH

Lisbon - Robert "Mark" Hawthorne, 65, died peacefully at home in the early hours of Monday March 16, 2026. He was surrounded by his family as he entered into the loving arms of Jesus, ultimately winning his battle with melanoma.

Born May 1, 1960 in Salem, OH, he was a son of the late John C. "Jack" and Kathryn (Bailey) Hawthorne.

Along with working the family farm, Mark worked many years as a welder and foreman at Winkle Industries.

A Christian by faith, Mark was an avid hunter, enjoyed tractor pulling, and in more recent years began hot rodding classic cars, showcasing his 'master fabricator' skills. He loved attending car shows with his wife, Sheryl.

In addition to his wife, Sheryl (Bartha) Hawthorne of 43 years, he is survived by his children: Avery Hawthorne, Robyn (Joe) Bell, and Dana (Jordan) Faudree. 4 grandchildren who will miss him dearly: Levi and Landon Bell, Kyle and Mya Faudree; and his siblings: Susan Barton, Nancy Coie, Julie Hawthorne, and Tom (Brenda) Hawthorne.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his step-mother Betty (Kibler) Hawthorne.

Mark was loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Usually with an open shop door, he was always willing to lend a hand, stop and chat, or fix and build anything, and his longtime friends and neighbors held a special place in his heart. Mark's greatest accomplishment was the foundation he built for his family and being 'grandpa'; the love and pride he had for them, his dedication, patience, hard work and easy-going nature, will never die.

The family would like to thank the staff at the cancer clinic at Cleveland Metro for giving us quality time to make memories, the drug trial team at the Cleveland Clinic for trying so hard to keep him with us, and our 'angels in scrubs' with Hospice of the Valley whose kindness and compassion allowed him to spend his last months at home.

The memorial service officiated by the Rev. Jeremy Hollingshead will be held at the Weber Funeral Home at 11AM on Saturday, March 21. The family will receive friends beginning at 9AM. A private burial at Lisbon Cemetery will take place at a later date.
