Robert Levern Hughes, Jr., 61, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away at 6:06 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.
Born on December 15, 1964, in Chillicothe, Bob was the son of the late Robert Levern Hughes, Sr. and Louisa (Dunn) Hughes. On June 27, 1992, he married Debra Lynn Bonds, who survives him. A U.S. Navy veteran, Bob worked as a corrections officer at Ross Correctional Institute and later as a manager at Red Lobster. He found joy in fishing, playing video games, listening to audiobooks, and singing with the spirit of Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson.
Bob is survived by his wife, Debra; their five children, Alexander (Natasha) Hughes, Shelby (Charles) Woolum, Abigail “Abbie” Hughes, Timothy “Timmie” Hughes, and Kimberly Hogue; six grandchildren, Aiden Hughes, Ellie Hughes, Blakely “Stinky Sue” Woolum, Braydon Arnette, Deklan Rowan, and Kai Wheeler; three siblings, Elizabeth (Harold) Sheets, Peg Hughes, and Rita (Tony) Davis; two brothers-in-law, Tom Hammond and Kevin (Angie) Bonds; his parents-in-law, Thomas “Harlan” (Lavada) Tackett and Marcia Bonds; special friends Kevin Fischer and Bobby Schofield; and many nieces, nephews, and loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bobbi Lynn Hammond, his father-in-law Harry Bonds, a very special mother-in-law Linda “Sue” Sickels-Bonds-Tackett, and two brothers-in-law, Rick Sharonburg and Harry Duane Bonds. His family extends a heartfelt thank you to Karen Deardorff for her many years of help and support.
