Robert Lester Thompson

Robert Lester Thompson, known affectionately as Bobby, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on December 30, 1932, in Bracken County, Kentucky, he lived a life marked by quiet dedication and a deep passion for bowling. A talented bowler who achieved the perfect game of 300 on multiple occasions, Robert turned his love for the sport into a career, working for many years as a bowling ball driller in a supply store. His service in the United States Army during the Korean War remained a source of great pride throughout his life.

Those who knew Robert appreciated his wonderful sense of humor and the gentle joy he brought to their lives, even as he often preferred to keep to himself. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia (née Meyer) Thompson, and his brothers, Mel Thompson, Gordon Thompson, and Ronnie Thompson.

Robert is survived by his sister, Janet Bergen, and his brother-in-law, James R. Bergen Sr.
