He was predeceased by: his daughter Lori Steichen; his in-laws, Albert, Mabel Kommes, Larry Kommes, Don Kommes (Lavonne), Ken Kommes (Erlene), Dolores Sitzmann (Jerry), Florence Thiel (Butch) and Marlys Kommes; his parent Viola Steichen; his uncle Earl Steichen; and his brothers, Mark Streff and Dave Streff.

He is survived by: his wife Loretta Steichen of Alton; his children, Dan, Candy Steichen of LeMars, Sheri, Brian Konz of Alton and Dale Steichen of Alton; his grandchildren, Amber, Austin, Kelsey, Aaron, Kylie, Bryce, Brooke, Lexi, Braden, Jacob and Wyatt; and his great grandchildren, Bentley, Camden, Hudsyn, Barrett, Oakleigh, Kinsley, Maslyn, Myles and Beckett. He is also survived by his brothers, sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, March 12th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (610 E 10th St, Alton, IA 51003). A prayer will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
